Michael S. Sarner

Mr. Sarner joined Capital Southwest in 2015 and brings more than 30 years of financial, treasury and BDC experience to his role as Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Mr. Sarner has been instrumental in planning and executing on the capitalization strategy for Capital Southwest. Mr. Sarner has led a team that has raised over $2 billion in both debt and equity at Capital Southwest and helped the company obtain Investment Company Ratings from both Moody’s Investor Services and Fitch Ratings.  Additionally, Mr. Sarner has built and leads the finance, accounting, Human Resources and IT teams.  Mr. Sarner has utilized his significant experience in the financial services space to build out best-in-class teams and solutions to support the growth of the company. Additionally, Mr. Sarner serves as the Chief Compliance Officer and an Investment Committee member. Previously, he spent 15 years at American Capital, Ltd. in a variety of financial roles, including senior vice president of treasury.

Mr. Sarner received a Bachelor in Business Administration/Accounting from James Madison University and a Master in Finance from George Washington University's School of Business and Public Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Sarner lives in Dallas with his wife and three sons.
