William R. Thomas, Non–Executive Chairman

Bill joined Capital Southwest in 1962 and served as President from 1980 until July, 2007, when he was named chairman in an non–executive capacity. His previous experience includes positions in the chemical industry and in a consulting firm. He has served as Chairman of the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies, Governor–at–Large of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and Chairman of the NASD’s Corporate Advisory Board. Bill Thomas’ education includes an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a BS in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University. He served as a U.S. Army officer for more than 5 years and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Korean Service Medal with five battle stars.
